Clinical Hold

FDA has the regulatory authority to place a clinical trial on clinical hold if there is insufficient information provided in the Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) of Investigational New Drug (IND) application to show adequate safety of the trial. A clinical hold may also be placed on an ongoing trial if new information that raises questions of safety is obtained.
