According to the European Union's regulatory scheme for in vitro diagnostic devices indirect harm is harm caused to a patient as the result of an incorrect result. Examples include misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, delayed treatment, inappropriate treatment or transfusion of inappropriate materials.
